Sedona Customized
Hiking Tour
Come
retreat into nature and allow us
to serve as your private hiking
guides as we offer you the opportunity to explore the Sedona
wilderness. The Sedona area sits in and among almost 2 million acres of
National Forest making for an abundance of hiking trails that offer the
chance to get up close and personal to the spectacular red rocks this
area is known for.
Nestled between Mingus Mountain to the south and the Colorado Plateau
to the northeast, the Sedona Red Rock Wilderness Area starts at an
elevation of 4500ft. and makes its way up to 6000ft. This provides a
diversity of hikes that can appease any level of hiker and brings
people back to the Sedona trails with the lure of further adventures.
Hiking trails in Sedona such as Bear
Mountain, Cathedral Rock and Doe
Mesa offer breathtaking panoramic views
overlooking the Sedona
landscape. Although these trails require
a bit of effort the payback of
the view from above is well worth it. These are excellent hiking tour
trails to get a bird's eye view of Sedona's multi-layered geology.
For a more mild adventure, Sedona's Seven Canyon Wilderness Area
(Boynton Canyon, Fay Canyon) and Soldiers Pass offer up close canyon
hiking. While the terrain is a bit more tame the views are equally
impressive. Hiking in the canyons is a great way to explore the flora
of Sedona's high desert environment.
Even though we are in the desert there is still water to be found in
the riparian environments of Sedona's Oak Creek. Hiking the Westfork,
Templeton or Huckaby trails allows you to witness how water can
transform the desert into an oasis. These are great trails to hike in
the summer and fall as the water and deciduous vegetation provide
cooling relief and shade from the sun.
Along
the way you will learn more than you can remember about Sedona's
natural and human history. As we hike you will be amazed to learn about
the rich diversity of life found in the Sedona area. From
prickly pear cactus and cryptobiotic soil to roadrunners and dare we
say rattlesnakes this area contains an abundance of life whose ability
to adapt to low water and high heat conditions is amazing. Even before
the homesteaders, cowboys and Hollywood discovered Sedona, this area
was home to numerous Native American cultures and we will share with
you how each group has carved out a niche in Sedona lore. In addition
you will learn about how Sedona's geologic rock formations, Native
American spirituality and vortex history give Sedona a unique story
that attracts visitors from all over the world.
We have developed a passion for this area so allow us to guide you,
teach you and entertain you as we make this a memorable part of your
experience in Sedona. Together we will choose a hike or hikes
appropriate for your level of adventure. To maximize your comfort
please remember these things to prepare for your hike: adequate water
(at very least 32oz per person), hats, sunscreen, light snacks and
comfortable shoes. Leave the rest up to us.
